Steve loved nature photography and also did conservation-themed photography on good practice and damage. He worked for Wiltshire and Berks, Bucks and Oxon Wildlife Trusts (WWT and BBONT), English Nature, Environment Agency and Plantlife International.

His slide library contains over 6,000 images of the flora, fauna and habitats of Wiltshire, other parts of the UK, Eire, France, Italy, Cyprus, Spain, Switzerland, the Canaries, Tunisia and Australia. He was particularly fond of orchids!
